In recent years many popular or luxury items in both Europe & America have unfortunately been the target of counterfeiters based in China. Products such as the iPhone are promised to online consumers at an extremely cheap price and many people make the mistake of trusting a website that can authorise card payments and has a .co.uk web address. They receive goods that look genuine but lack the functionality and quality of the real brand, the criminals are impossible to contact and regularly migrate to new websites to hide from angry customers.
Unfortunately MBT shoes are now also targeted by counterfeiters. A .co.uk web address does not necessarily mean that it is owned by a UK business; many of these websites are based in China and are not bound by UK or EU law.
Luckily for MBT customers there are a couple of simple ways to check whether a website is selling genuine MBTs
The criminals behind these sites naturally wish to keep their identities secret; therefore when you visit the Contact Us section of the fake site you will never find a business address or phone number. Often the only form of communication is via a dubious hotmail email address or similar.
If in doubt, email MBT at: customer-service@uk.mbt.com provide the website name or cut and paste the site URL address. Simply ask them to confirm if the site is genuine. You should get a response within hours and it will hopefully prevent your card details from falling into the hands of criminals.

If a retailer cannot provide you with a UK business name and address that matches their website, then they are clearly operating illegally in the UK or are an international business not bound by UK law.
